Prabowo Receives National Hero Recommendations Ahead of Heroes' Day

Review process reaches the president

Fadli also chairs the Council for Titles, Decorations, and Honors (GTK), which reviews National Hero candidates and recommends them to the president. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Lt. Col. Teddy Indra Wijaya also attended the palace meeting.

In a statement issued Wednesday evening, the Cabinet Secretariat outlined the research and review that preceded the recommendations. Candidates went through the Regional Titles Research and Review Team (TP2GD) at the county and provincial levels, followed by the Central Titles Research and Review Team (TP2GP) at the Ministry of Social Affairs. The GTK council then discussed the findings before forwarding its recommendations to Prabowo.

The secretariat described the meeting as part of the state's process for honoring national figures' service and contributions while preserving respect for the history of Indonesia's struggle.

New candidates and a planned November 10 announcement

Ahead of Heroes' Day 2026, the Ministry of Social Affairs formally submitted 10 new candidates to the council, alongside 30 names from previous years that remained under evaluation. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, did not identify the new candidates, saying only that they represented diverse backgrounds.

The president has the final authority to decide who receives the title. According to iNews Ambon, the announcement of the 2026 recipients was planned for November 10, coinciding with Heroes' Day. Saifullah Yusuf said it would likely take place on that date, as in previous years.
