Ombudsman Monitors Health Examination of Prospective Cadets at Poltek Imipas

The Indonesian Ombudsman conducted direct oversight of health examinations for prospective cadets of the Immigration and Correctional Polytechnic (Poltekimipas) at Bhayangkara Brimob Hospital in Kelapa Dua, Depok, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

Ombudsman Chairman Nuzran Joher, who was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on October 1, 2026, led the monitoring visit to ensure proper implementation of public services during the cadet selection process. The health screening stage is being conducted from October 14-16, 2026, with 1,845 candidates who passed the Basic Competency Selection (SKD) eligible to participate.

We are here to ensure that all public services regarding the selection of cadets at the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services are proceeding smoothly.

Nuzran stated during his visit to the hospital.

Ombudsman's Mandate and Functions

Established under Law No. 37 of 2008, the Indonesian Ombudsman holds the mandate to oversee public service implementation by government agencies, state companies, and entities providing services funded by national or regional budgets. The institution handles complaints without charging fees and employs mediation and conciliation methods rather than punitive measures in addressing service delivery issues.

Nuzran explained that this monitoring activity is part of the Ombudsman's routine oversight program for educational institutions under various ministries. Similar inspections have been conducted at the Institute of Domestic Government (IPDN) and educational facilities under the Ministry of Transportation.

So, it's not only in the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services service sector.

he noted.

Emphasis on Transparency and Accountability

The oversight visit represents a collaborative effort between the Ombudsman and the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services to ensure transparency throughout the cadet selection process. Nuzran emphasized that public accountability extends beyond administrative procedures to encompass all selection stages.

All public service units should be transparent and open to the public, and the selection for cadets in the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services also allows the Ombudsman to see how transparency in the process is maintained starting from administrative selection, including the results of the SKD, which have been released, and today we begin to conduct health tests.

Nuzran explained.

Background on Poltekimipas and the Ministry

Poltekimipas was established in 2025 through the merger of Politeknik Imigrasi and Politeknik Ilmu Pemasyarakatan, formalized by Minister of Immigration and Corrections Regulation No. 15 of 2025. The polytechnic operates under the Ministry of Immigration and Correction, which was formed on October 21, 2024, when President Prabowo split the former Ministry of Law and Human Rights into three separate ministries. The new ministry is led by Minister Agus Andrianto.

Hospital Facilities and Preparedness

During the visit, the Ombudsman also evaluated services and facilities provided by Bhayangkara Brimob Hospital for the cadet selection process. The hospital, established in 2005 and accredited by the Hospital Accreditation Committee in 2017, serves as the venue for the medical screening.

Nuzran commended the hospital's preparedness in conducting the health examinations.

Certainly, this provides comfort and assurance that all stages of the health tests are being conducted well.

he stated.

Ongoing Service Improvements

The monitoring comes as the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs works to address service delivery challenges. In September 2026, the ministry identified several areas requiring improvement, including schedule reliability, distribution of authority, governance risks, and data traceability.

The event was attended by Acting Head of the Human Resource Development Agency of the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services Muhammad Tito Andrianto and Brimob Corps Commander Police Commissioner General Ramdani Hidayat.
