Golkar Leaders Reject Congress Poster as Doli Denies Involvement

Golkar leaders have dismissed as a hoax a poster promoting an extraordinary national congress on November 29, 2026. Deputy General Chairman Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tanjung, whom the poster presents as a candidate for the party leadership, denied any involvement, while Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia said he knew who was behind it.

Poster draws denials and a warning

The digital poster circulated on X, calling for an Extraordinary National Congress, known as a Munaslub, and urging supporters to save Golkar from "Gang Solo." It featured Doli as a prospective chairman. According to detikcom, it listed Hotel Mercure Convention Center Ancol in North Jakarta as the venue for the purported gathering on Sunday, November 29.

Golkar Secretary-General Sarmuji told detikcom on November 7 that the poster was merely a hoax. Bahlil also rejected it that day while speaking at the inauguration of Golkar's Maluku regional board, known as DPD I.

Bahlil said he already knew who was responsible and warned those seeking to divide the party to be careful. According to Kompas TV and Kompas.com, he used an Ambonese expression describing a high-class liar or hypocrite.

Bahlil became chairman at Golkar's Munas XI in August 2024, succeeding Airlangga Hartarto, who had resigned about two weeks earlier, according to Tempo.co. As of November 2026, Bahlil also serves as Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition.

Doli stresses ties with Bahlil

In a statement issued Saturday, November 7, Doli denied having any connection to the flyer or knowing how the rumors had spread. He emphasized his commitment to constitutional and institutional procedures, including Golkar's bylaws, regulations and hierarchy of authority and responsibility.

Doli described his working relationships within the party as harmonious, cooperative and respectful, and said he was personally on good terms with Bahlil.

"Bahlil and I have coordinated and mutually recognized that in the current situation and dynamics we face as a nation, there will always be parties attempting to stir up trouble and seek political gain," he said.

He also alleged that people within Golkar were trying to provoke internal discord. "I have detected those 'komprador' elements within our own ranks. And I want to say to you, do not disturb Golkar with your petty agendas," he said.

CNN Indonesia reported on November 7 that the congress rumors emerged after a scandal involving illegal wiretapping targeting President Prabowo Subianto and other figures. Former National Police chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo had been named a suspect in that case, the outlet reported.

In the same statement, Doli framed the alleged wiretapping and attempted coup, or makar, case as a real threat to the state. According to CNN Indonesia, he said certain parties were targeting the president, whom he described as a symbol of the state, through an attempted coup. He pledged that Golkar would stand at the forefront of efforts to protect the president.

Earlier congress rumors also met denials

Similar speculation surfaced on August 5, 2025, with claims that a Munaslub was imminent and that the Palace had approved a move to remove Bahlil. Those rumors also alleged that Nusron Wahid had been summoned to Hambalang to arrange a congress before 2026. Talk of those plans eventually faded.

Tempo.co reported that Bahlil, Nusron and Deputy Chairwoman Meutya Hafid were among the Golkar figures who rejected the earlier speculation. In a written statement dated August 4, 2025, Meutya said there was no plan to hold a Munaslub.
