Prabowo Calls for Honesty and Patriotism at Taruna Nusantara Campus Inauguration
President Prabowo Subianto urged teachers and mentors to develop students' integrity and love of country alongside their intelligence as he inaugurated the SMA Taruna Nusantara campus in Cimahi, West Java, on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Character and academic effort
Prabowo asked the school's educators to lead by example and guide students toward becoming honest, patriotic young people. According to a presidential secretariat press release, he said: "Continuously instill values of patriotism and integrity. Rather than having hundreds of smart people, give the country youth with honesty, pure hearts, and a love for the homeland. Only then will we succeed as a nation and a state."
He also called on students to approach their studies with diligence and commitment.
Sugiono, the coordinating minister for human development and culture and head of the Taruna Nusantara Higher Education Institution (LPTTN), thanked Prabowo for attending and expressed pride in his presence. "The SMA Taruna Nusantara campus is dedicated to the future of the nation and state. We hope that we, as the sons and daughters of Taruna Nusantara, can carry on the legacy of this beloved campus," he said in his report.
Following the ceremony, Prabowo visited the school building and its AeroNautica Room. Students' research presented to him included a mosquito repellent device based on ultrasonic vibrations and a smart irrigation system.
A campus already in operation
The Cimahi campus occupies 30.2 hectares and serves 677 students, with 30 classrooms and supporting facilities.
Its inauguration followed the start of school operations in the 2024 school year, according to Indonesian-language Wikipedia. Construction began with a November 8, 2023, groundbreaking led by Deputy Defense Minister Muhammad Herindra and West Java Acting Governor Bey Machmudin.
The same source identifies the campus head as Maj. Gen. TNI Ardiansyah, a 1995 Taruna Nusantara graduate from class TN 3.
Expansion beyond Magelang
Cimahi is the next new campus Prabowo has inaugurated in the school's national expansion, following the Malang campus in East Java on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, according to ANTARA News.
Speaking on the day of the Malang inauguration, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the Ministry of Defense, through the YPP-SDP foundation and LPTTN, had built the Malang and Cimahi campuses after the original school in Magelang. ANTARA News reported that construction was also underway at that time at three other locations: the new capital, IKN, North Sulawesi, and South Sumatra.
The expansion builds on a school first proposed by then-Defense and Security Minister Gen. Leonardus Benyamin Moerdani in Yogyakarta on May 20, 1985. Indonesian-language Wikipedia describes Taruna Nusantara as a semi-military boarding high school and dates the opening of its first campus, in Magelang, to July 14, 1990.
That source now lists six campuses: Magelang in Central Java, Malang in East Java, Cimahi in West Java, Pagar Alam in South Sumatra, IKN in East Kalimantan, and Langowan Minahasa in North Sulawesi.
