Laura Dungguri Praises Damai Cartenz Task Force's Community Outreach in Papua
Papuan women's representative Laura Dungguri praised the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation (ODC) Task Force for assisting communities alongside its security and law enforcement duties, according to the Indonesian National Police (INP). She called for those social activities to continue throughout the task force's operational areas.

Community assistance and local ties
Dungguri highlighted the task force's help for people in need, sharing with residents and efforts to maintain communication with local communities. In her view, that work shows a humane approach to policing that extends beyond enforcing the law.
"Activities like this are very positive because they demonstrate that the police are present not only as law enforcement officers, but also as partners and friends of the community. This kind of concern can strengthen relationships and a sense of unity within the Papuan community," she said.
INP has reported several outreach activities by the task force, which is led by Faizal Ramadhani, identified in police statements as its head, or Kaops.
On January 23, 2026, ODC personnel joined mosque administrators and residents to clean the An-Nur Mile 32 Mosque in Kuala Kencana, Mimika Regency. The task force described the effort as part of its humanistic approach to encouraging tolerance and interfaith relations.
Personnel also conducted a social service activity on June 29, 2026, at the Santa Susana Orphanage in SP2, Mimika Baru District, Mimika Regency. The task force linked that visit to the 80th Bhayangkara Day, the Indonesian National Police anniversary.
Dungguri said she wanted such assistance to continue in every operational area, particularly for residents who need support.
Security operations in Yahukimo
The task force's law enforcement responsibilities include operations in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains. In a February 20, 2026, press statement in Jayapura, Ramadhani presented data showing that security disturbances there had risen from three incidents in January-February 2025 to 23 by mid-February 2026.
In response, ODC increased its deployment in Yahukimo from about 80 personnel to about 150 in January 2026, then to about 250 by February. The task force also apprehended 12 suspects between November 2025 and February 2026.
An appeal for public participation
Dungguri urged Papuans to help maintain security and order by preserving ties with one another, resisting provocation from unverified information and seeking wise, constructive ways to resolve disputes.
"Papua is our shared home, and peace is our collective responsibility. Let us join hands, help each other, and build a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Papua," she said.
She also thanked the task force for its dedication to Papuan communities and expressed hope that mutual care and cooperation would endure, helping residents live together harmoniously.
