ITDC Estimates Rp5.2 Trillion in Economic Turnover From 2026 Mandalika MotoGP
The October 9-11 Indonesian MotoGP at Mandalika generated an estimated Rp5.2 trillion in economic turnover, up from Rp4.9 trillion in 2025, according to ITDC. The event also recorded its highest attendance since the Lombok circuit joined the MotoGP calendar in 2022.

Spending and the economic assessment
ITDC's estimate spans lodging, transportation, food services and sales of locally made creative products. It also reported average visitor spending of Rp8.56 million (about US$476.93) per person, measured from one week before the event through race day.
The Industrial Engineering and Management School of the Bandung Institute of Technology (LETMI-ITB) conducted the economic-impact assessment, drawing on field research before and during the race. Researchers combined an Input-Output model using Statistics Indonesia (BPS) tables with a Keynesian multiplier framework. ITDC said BPS would publish a separate, independent assessment in the coming weeks to serve as an official benchmark.
An ANTARA FOTO photograph taken on October 31 showed visitors dining at Cafe Cirqa in the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit area. The venue is within the Mandalika Special Economic Zone in Kuta, Pujut District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
Attendance reached a new high
ITDC put total attendance at the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia at 157,875 over three days. That was a 12.5 percent increase from the 140,324 visitors recorded in 2025 and a record for the circuit's MotoGP events.
Official figures from race promoter Dorna Sports show the crowd growing each day: 39,510 attended on Friday, October 9, followed by 53,296 on Saturday, October 10. Attendance peaked at 65,069 for the race on Sunday, October 11.
The record extended a multiyear rise in attendance. Earlier editions drew 102,801 spectators at the inaugural race in 2022, 102,929 in 2023 and 121,252 in 2024.
Other estimates and media exposure
Indonesia's Tourism Ministry estimated economic spillovers from the 2026 race at Rp5 trillion (about US$277.7 million), compared with ITDC's Rp5.2 trillion estimate. For the 2025 event, the National Development Planning Ministry, known as Bappenas, estimated an economic impact ranging from Rp2.7 trillion to Rp4.7 trillion.
The Star, carrying a report from The Jakarta Post-ANN, also reported that global media exposure for the event was valued at €361.6 million (about Rp6.9 trillion) in advertising value equivalency for Indonesia and Mandalika.
Contract extension remained undecided
As of mid-October 2026, Indonesia had not decided whether to renew its Mandalika MotoGP contract, which expires in 2026. Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir said an evaluation and direction from President Prabowo Subianto would determine the decision.
Dorna Sports signaled its willingness to continue and said it planned to stay in Mandalika until at least 2031. ITDC, however, said Indonesia had not formally approved an extension.
