Danantara Seeks Global Technology Investment Through Jakarta Forum

Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, will make its case for investment in technology-driven industries at its inaugural Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum (DTIIF), scheduled for October 26-28, 2026, at the Fairmont Jakarta.

Investment priorities

Sigit Puji Santosa, Danantara's chief technology officer and the forum's chair, said the investment pitch combines Indonesia's mineral wealth, large domestic market and access to Southeast Asia with plans to develop talent and industries.

"What we are trying to do now is nurture talent and build industries, and this is what we offer investors through a roadmap that we will outline," Santosa said in a statement on Saturday.

Danantara directors will outline investment portfolios in six strategic sectors: energy; agriculture, food, and health; advanced materials and semiconductors; transportation and infrastructure; finance and banking; and AI, digital infrastructure, and telecommunications.

Santosa described the forum as part of a longer-term effort to develop an industrial ecosystem supported by technology, innovation and investment, with domestic resources and market demand also helping drive its development. Discussions will examine how technology and innovation can advance national industrialization.

Speakers and three-day agenda

Danantara's October 14 announcement sets the forum's theme as "Investing in Tomorrow: Advancing Technology, Innovation, and Sustainable Growth". The event is intended to bring economic leaders, experts and global technology executives together around innovation, investment capital and industrial opportunities in Indonesia.

Organizers expect more than 1,500 participants, including 170 global innovators, 131 global technology CEOs, 67 research and innovation centers, and more than 50 state-owned enterprises. Nobel laureates, sovereign and institutional investors, government leaders, academic partners and startups are also expected.

According to Danantara's press release and the published agenda, confirmed speakers include representatives of Google and Microsoft and two Nobel laureates in economic sciences: Peter Howitt of Brown University, a 2025 laureate, and Thomas J. Sargent, a 2011 laureate.

The published agenda schedules the official opening for October 26, featuring Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Roeslani. The first day's theme is "Strategic Outlook and Global Partnership". Day 2 follows with "Technology, Innovation, and Investment Collaboration", while Day 3 focuses on "Youth, Inclusion, and Sustainable Future".

Danantara's mandate and scale

Formally named Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara), Danantara Indonesia was created under Law No. 1 of 2025. It operates as an independent entity under the president, responsible for managing and optimizing government investments and state-owned enterprise assets.

In July 2026, Prabowo said Danantara held more than US$1 trillion in assets. He also said it had closed, consolidated or merged 250 of Indonesia's 1,077 state-owned enterprises within its first 18 months, saving roughly Rp50 trillion in overhead costs.

Follow-up on partnerships and projects

Santosa said Danantara wants the forum to produce concrete commercial partnerships and investment projects, consistent with its goal of helping spur technology-driven industries in Indonesia.

"The success of the DTIIF will be measured by what is built after it concludes. Every partnership, MoU, and pipeline project generated through this forum will be followed up to ensure that commitments are translated into impactful projects," he said.
