Seven companies await IPO launch on Indonesia Stock Exchange, healthcare sector dominates pipeline

The Indonesia Stock Exchange has seven companies in its pipeline preparing to launch initial public offerings on the domestic capital market, according to an official statement released Saturday by IDX Director of Company Assessment and Listing Saidu Solihin.

Three of the prospective issuers are classified as large-scale enterprises, with assets exceeding Rp250 billion (approximately US$14.1 million). Two are medium-scale companies with assets ranging from Rp50 billion (US$2.8 million) to Rp250 billion, while the remaining two are small-scale businesses with assets below Rp50 billion.

The concentration of healthcare companies in the current pipeline reflects broader trends in Indonesia's capital markets, where private equity activity has increasingly focused on consumer-facing sectors, healthcare, and financial services over the past year. Indonesia's healthcare sector is undergoing rapid transformation driven by rising chronic diseases, an ageing population, and major policy reforms including the Omnibus Health Law and BPJS expansion, with healthcare spending now exceeding Rp200 trillion.

By sector, the upcoming IPOs comprise four companies from the healthcare industry, and one each from the primary consumer goods, energy, and industrial sectors.

Performance against annual targets

As of late August, the IDX noted that seven companies had successfully conducted IPOs this year, raising a combined Rp2.16 trillion (US$121.9 million). This brings the total number of listed companies on the Indonesian capital market to 963.

The current pipeline represents modest progress toward the exchange's ambitious target of 50 IPOs for 2026, set after only 26 companies went public in 2025. The 2025 figure marked a decline from 41 IPOs in 2024, as the exchange implemented a stricter focus on listing quality. The IDX has introduced a lighthouse company concept for 2026, targeting large-cap issuers with minimum market capitalization of around Rp3 trillion and free float of at least 15 percent to improve IPO quality and market impact.

The exchange is working toward a long-term goal of reaching 1,100 listed companies by 2030, requiring sustained IPO momentum over the coming years.

Debt securities and rights issues

Beyond equity offerings, the local exchange recorded 122 issuances of debt securities and sukuk (Islamic bonds) by 62 issuers, generating Rp112 trillion (US$6.32 billion) in funds. Solihin added that 14 upcoming debt and sukuk issuances from nine issuers across various sectors are currently in the pipeline.

Additionally, 15 companies have carried out rights issues this year, raising a total of Rp15.85 trillion (US$894.57 million) as of August 28. At present, one property company remains in the pipeline for an upcoming rights issue.

Market conditions and reform progress

The IDX is operating in a complex market environment. Indonesia retained its Emerging Market status in the MSCI 2026 Market Classification Review announced in June 2026, but MSCI extended its review to November 2026 and warned that a downgrade to Frontier Market status remains possible if market reforms do not show sufficient progress.

The exchange itself is undergoing a demutualization process under Law No. 4 of 2026, with the Financial Services Authority targeting completion of implementing regulations within three months as of mid-2026. Danantara, Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund established in early 2025 and managing approximately US$600-900 billion in state-owned enterprise assets, is preparing to acquire a stake in the exchange as part of this transformation.
