Drugs, alcohol and gunpowder among the evidence

ANTARA FOTO's caption put the destruction total for January through October 2026 at 241 cases. The inventory included 170,947 double L pills and dangerous prescription drugs known as okerbaya, along with 568.901 grams of methamphetamine and 883.78 grams of marijuana.

Officers also disposed of 2,494 bottles of alcoholic beverages, 77 grams of gunpowder and other evidence. The caption described the destruction as carrying out court rulings and demonstrating accountability and transparency to the public in law enforcement.

Rules governing evidence destruction

Indonesian prosecutors destroy evidence under final, legally binding court rulings, a status known as inkracht. In a November 2, 2026, report about a comparable operation by the Jembrana District Prosecutor's Office in Bali, BALIPOST.com identified Article 270 of the Criminal Procedure Code, or KUHAP, as the legal basis for executing those rulings.

Separate requirements apply to narcotics. According to a February 9, 2026, report by the Pontianak District Court, Article 91 of Narcotics Law No. 35 of 2009 requires the destruction of seized narcotics and precursors once they are no longer needed for evidence, education or scientific purposes. Before destruction, the head of the district prosecutor's office must determine the status of the seized material.

Previous operations in Tulungagung

The office has held similar evidence-destruction operations periodically. ANTARA News Jawa Timur reported that an operation in late January 2026 covered 27 cases and 137 items. Among them were 136,226 double L pills, about 16.5 grams of methamphetamine and 244 bottles of ciu.

An earlier operation, on September 30, 2025, involved 237 items from 55 cases. That inventory included 88.25 grams of methamphetamine, 2,247 double L pills and 141 bottles of arak bali.

ANTARA News Jawa Timur also documented the methods used in the September 2025 operation: narcotics were burned and dissolved, while alcoholic beverages were poured out. Heavy equipment crushed other evidence, including clothing, meth pipes and mobile phones.
