Ministry Extends Birthday Wishes

The Ministry of State Secretariat extended warm congratulations to President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday as he celebrated his 75th birthday, expressing hopes that he would be granted continued health, happiness, and strength to guide Indonesia's national transformation.

In a message posted on its official Instagram account, the ministry conveyed prayers for the president to successfully fulfill his leadership responsibilities in advancing the nation.

On this special day, we pray that Mr. President is always granted health, happiness, and strength in leading the path of 'National Transformation,'
the ministry stated.

Prabowo Subianto, born in Jakarta on October 17, 1951, to economist Sumitro Djojohadikusumo and Dora Marie Sigar, has become Indonesia's third president with a military background, following Suharto and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. He is also the oldest first-term president in the nation's history, having assumed office on October 20, 2024, at age 73.

Before his presidency, Prabowo served as Indonesia's 26th Minister of Defence under President Joko Widodo from 2019 to 2024. He won the 2024 presidential election with Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the son of former President Joko Widodo, as his running mate and vice president.

The State Secretariat's birthday message emphasized the administration's commitment to realizing key national priorities. The ministry expressed hope that every step of Prabowo's leadership would remain under divine protection and continue advancing the nation's aspirations, from food sovereignty and energy independence to equitable welfare for all citizens.

National Transformation Agenda

The National Transformation program encompasses several strategic areas, including natural resource downstreaming, food and energy security, cooperative and rural economy strengthening, and human resource quality improvement. The government has allocated substantial resources to these initiatives, with 139.4 trillion rupiah ($8.9 billion) dedicated to food self-sufficiency efforts in 2025 alone.

Indonesia achieved a significant milestone in 2025, reaching a food self-sufficiency ratio of 110.25 percent, driven primarily by robust rice stocks that reached 34.69 million tonnes. This achievement allowed the country to avoid rice imports throughout 2025.

On energy independence, the government has implemented the B50 biofuel program using palm oil biodiesel, which is expected to save up to 170 trillion rupiah ($9.5 billion) in foreign exchange annually and eventually eliminate diesel imports entirely.

May every genuine action and leadership step of Mr. President always be under the protection of God Almighty, and continue to be consistent in realizing the nation's aspirations, from food sovereignty, energy independence, to equitable welfare, so that Indonesia can stand on its own feet,
the ministry wrote.

Presidential Background

Prabowo's father, Sumitro Djojohadikusumo, was considered the 'Great Economic Teacher' in Indonesia's history, serving as Minister of Finance, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Minister of Research under Presidents Sukarno and Suharto between 1950 and 1978. His mother, Dora Marie Sigar, comes from a Minahasan family in North Sulawesi.

Prabowo graduated from the Indonesian Military Academy in 1974 and served 28 years in the armed forces, rising to become Commander of Kopassus (Special Forces) in 1995 and Commander of Kostrad (Army Strategic Reserve Command) in 1998.

The State Secretariat concluded its birthday message with an encouragement for the president to continue serving the nation.

Happy birthday, Mr. President. Continue to serve and bring progress for all the people of Indonesia!
the ministry added. The post also featured the song "Happy Birthday" by the Indonesian band Jamrud.
